Meanders on Big Soap Creek offer fine fishing.
Our cabin is located in the heart of big game country. It is located in Colorado Big Game Unit 54 and is adjacent to area 53, both of which offer exceptional mule deer, elk and bear hunting. There is also grouse hunting for those times when you'd rather get a bird or two for the pot. The cabin itself sits on forty acres of private valley land which offers some hunting opportunities, but the true draw of Crazy Horse Ranch for hunting purposes is the access it offers to the West Elk Wilderness. While based at our cabin your starting point will be miles from the nearest easy road access to the wilderness boundary, meaning you will not have to compete with road hunters for access to game. Contact us for more information on the fine hunting you can experience from Crazy Horse Ranch.
During the summer and fall, you can enjoy excellent trout fishing while based from our cabin. Big Soap Creek offers a classic small stream trout fishery for four species of trout, rainbow, brook, brown, and native Colorado cutthroat. Fly fishing using terrestrial and attractor dry flies is the most productive method for most of the season but spinners using light tackle works well also. Slightly farther away you can find good fishing on Blue Mesa Reservoir and the Gunnison River. For more information on the fishing, give us a call.
